Planning for Motorized Shades in Yok Harbor, ME

Filed under: Motorization — Tags: , , — admin @ 9:50 am

We just had a call from a client similar to calls we get almost weekly. The client and his wife had mentioned to their home builder that they might want to motorize some of their window treatments. The builder mentions this to the electrician, and the electrician asks for specifications, and so the client calls us.

Before we can answer the electrician’s question, we need to answer a number of questions with the client;

  1. What type of treatment will be used?
  2. Will they be mounted inside the window or outside?
  3. How many treatments in total will be motorized?
  4. Are wall switches or remotes or both going to be used?
  5. Will the treatments be operated by radio control remotes or switches?
  6. Would they like to use timers or solar sensors?
  7. Will the treatments be tied into a ‘Smart House’ system?

As you can see answering the initial question of the electrician is not that simple. The bottom line is that if you plan to use any motorized window treatments in a new home or renovation, contact us or a reputable and experienced window treatment professional early in the process. Planning ahead will allow you to save time and money as well as allowing you to budget appropriately for the treatments you would like to have. Link
