Even Skylights can be covered with Plantation Shutters

Shutters on the ceiling? This may sound unusual, but we actually install shutters in skylights quite often. This set was installed in a renovated church on the water in Marblehead, MA. The shutters are installed with a frame inside the sheetrock opening as would be on a window. We generally add extra magnets, or a sliding catch to insure that the shutters stay closed.

The louvers provide the full range from darkness to full light, and can direct the suns rays in such a way that light is still allowed to enter, but the room remains cool.
