Looking forward to installing the largest porthole or round window shutter we have ever done. At almost four feet in diameter, this is a very large window. I know Kirtz did a great job, so as long as I measured correctly all should go smoothly. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I will post a picture tomorrow.

I am looking forward to travelling to Visions 09, the International Window Coverings Expo in Atlanta Georgia beginning May 14th. I start the week off on Wednesday with the Exciting Windows! conference, great training and inspiration from talking to other members. Thursday I will be working the booth for the Window Coverings Association in the morning, and will be walking the show with a colleague from Connecticut. Friday, I hope to catch a seminar or two before revisiting with some key vendors. And then Friday night I will attend the national meeting of the Window Coverings Association as one of the National Directors. I am looking forward to it now, but I know by Saturday I will be ready to come home. Hopefully with some great new ideas and products for my clients.

We recently met a new client in a beautiful brick colonial in Exeter, NH that was struggling with determining how to assure privacy while still having natural light and maintaining the view.
Our solution was simple, we suggested plantation shutters with a center rail. The client could keep the louvers on the lower half of the window closed to maintain privacy from the busy sidewalk, and keep the upper louvers tilted open for light and view.

 Portsmouth Decorating
We are asked all the time by clients “what part of the room should I begin with?”. Our answer really is where ever they would like. If you already have the furniture for a room, then move onto either the flooring/rug or the window treatments. Really the only ‘rule’ we use is that the paint color should be chosen last.
Choosing the paint color last often surprises clients. But when they think about it they understand why. Paint can be matched to any piece of furniture or fabric color. But we can remember hundreds of clients who fell in ove with a fabric only to find that the pattern is not available in the color pallet they had chosen for the room. Link
