Compare Our Prices to Smith and Noble

Yesterday I received a catalog in the mail from Smith and Noble. I love to receive their catalog, because I feel that they have done a great job of staying on top of fashion trends. I was disappointed in this issue, because nothing really seemed new. For some reason, I decided to compare the price for a Smith and Noble shade to what I could sell a comparable product for; and I was amazed!

Our regular discounted prices for just about every product I compared was lower or the same than from the catalog! And our price included measuring and installation! I can’t believe that I never took the time to compare our prices to theirs. I know our quality is better, or at the least the same, (there is not much difference in basic roller shade fabrics). And our price comes with our expertise! So, go ahead, call us today for a free in home consultation, choose the fabrics and options you want using real samples, not pictures! And we will come back to install your treatments. Our installers are professionals who only install window treatments, you don’t have to worry about some carpet installer reading the directions.

Interior Home Design - More Window Treatment Ideas

Window treatments can transform even a mundane window into the focal point of the space. An eye catching pattern or color can draw attention to this area. Window treatments can be treated as a work of art, so be creative and have fun. You can add tassels, flowers or beads. Anything to make it more creative or to fit your particular taste. If you don’t like it or change your mind, you can always take it down and replace it with something else that works!

Window treatments can reflect both your home’s architecture and your personal style. Window treatments lean more toward simple straight lines. But many of these treatments are being made with luxury fabrics such as velvet, damask and even fur and leather. Using treatments to reduce glare such as sheers can be helpful if the room gets an excessive amount of sunlight.

Draperies are definitely a decorative addition to any room and they tend to be longer than curtains and produced with velvet or cotton (heavy fabrics). A valance is a fabric covering that goes around the curtain rod and they come in many different styles including roman, waterfall valances, blouson, pinch pleat, or box.

Window Treatments Can Help Sell Your Home

Filed under: Window Treatments — Tags: — admin @ 8:00 am

When you are planning to sell your home, if you are planning to show your home mainly during the day light hours, then you may want to think about your selling season, the market conditions, and the benefits of window treatments.

Window treatment tips from an innovative designer can help you to sell your home for much more money, then you would have thought. Real estate market conditions actually influences the market’s decisions regarding window treatments. A hot markets will require fewer embellishments in order for you to sell your home. However, an increased competition in the market from many listings similar to yours may require those little extras such as great looking window coverings to attract buyers to your house.

Remember, day time light is always the best if it enters your home in from the out side, this is because the natural day light tends to make people happy. However, the absence of natural day light tends to depress people, who may be potential buyers. When a room is too dark during the day, then by boosting the light with specific day time type of lighting will help you to maintain an aerial emotional in the atmosphere.

Top Window Treatment Ideas for Large Windows

Filed under: Window Treatments — admin @ 8:00 am

So, you have a large window or maybe windows in your home. So what’s the best window treatment for all that glass? The specific answer will ultimately depend on your light control needs. Just so you know, if you are looking for blackout window treatments, you may be a little disappointed in the outcome as it is very difficult with large windows. Beyond that you do have choices.

First up are vertical blinds, but I am not talking about the ubiquitous vinyl vertical blinds. Instead, consider some of the other material choices like fabric, solar screen, faux wood and wood, cellular and aluminum vertical blinds. If you want to preserve your view-through consider vertical blinds with solar screen vanes. If you want room darkening, look into aluminum, wood and faux wood, of course depending on how well these coordinate with your interior. For a softer look consider fabric vertical blinds or vertical cellular shades. The advantage of the cellular option is improved energy efficiency.

Next up are panel track blinds. Panel track blinds are fairly new to the window treatments scene and offer sophisticated, contemporary looks. They are similar to vertical blinds except they have much larger vanes; that’s why they call them panel blinds. The blind itself operates on a wheeled track so they open and close very smoothly. Panel tracks come in a wide variety of materials including solar shade, woven woods, weaves as well as patterned and solid fabrics. The cool thing too about panel blinds is the panels can be swapped out with different panels if you wanted to redecorate. As far as I know, no other window treatment allows this flexibility.

Top Window Treatment Choices for your Home Theater

The main deciding factor in selecting home theater window treatments is whether or not that room is a truly dedicated room for watching movies or a living room or family room which is used for other things. If you have a true dedicated room in your house for a large screen television or projector, than kudos! My home heater is in my living room which influenced what types of blinds were right for me.

If you have a true home theater room most likely what you want are room darkening or blackout blinds or shades. Having a dedicated room for watching movies allows you to create a movie theater style experience because that room is not really used for other purposes. In that case I would recommend blackout roller shades. The best window treatments for room darkening will always be one piece or a solid shade.

Roller shades come in a lot of different fabrics so make sure that you select one that is labeled as blackout. Than the only things you will need to do is make sure you measure your window accurately so that you have minimal space around that shade itself that can let in light. If you are not interested in a completely dark room and just want light filtering than you have many choices. Blackout roller shades may not be the best choice for a living room or family room because they don’t offer much versatility. So the rest of my recommendations apply to both types of rooms.

Why are custom window treatments so expensive?

For one, the number of individuals who sew professionally has diminished. Therefore, the waiting list as well as the value for such work has its corresponding time and cost.

On the other hand, most people are not aware of the time and experience each product needs. Sewing is not a quick process, and fabricators make an hourly wage just as much as the next guy. It is the amount of time as well as the rare skill that makes up the major cost of custom window treatments. Also, the fabrics really do set a custom window treatment apart.

Decorator fabrics start at about $20 per yard and can go into hundreds for top-of-the-line, exquisite custom window treatments. Custom window treatments have their prints positioned professionally in order to center them on sections or create repetitive patterns.
