Horizontal Wood Blinds

Wooden blinds come in many varieties, such as vertical blinds, mini blinds or horizontal blinds. They are also available in various shapes, stains, colors, and shades and can be crafted from different varieties of wood. Horizontal blinds have slats that fall parallel to each other.

Horizontal wood blinds are used to give the room a cozy and alluring look. These wooden blinds are easy to stain or paint, to attain the desired look. Horizontal wooden blinds are a modern option to the traditional shutters. It is advisable to choose wood blinds with no-holes, as they prevent light from leaking into the rooms. These are also known to provide better insulation, when shut properly. These blinds can be motorized and that provides more safety and easy operation.

They can be customized, as required and fitted with additional features such as cord- want tilt, motorization, ultraviolet control and anti- static control. It is important to determine the size of the slats, before buying the blinds. French doors and smaller windows require one-inch slats, whereas two-inch slats suit bigger windows of any size and shape. Blinds with bigger slats of more than two inches, look like plantation shutters and provide less privacy when open.

Interior Home Design - Window Treatments

Curtains are a fast way to bring new life and color to any room, and now home decorators can create them more quickly and easily than ever. One clever example: simply clip an attractive tablecloth or tea towel onto a rod. Curtains and drapes will give you the more traditional window covering that you can combine with window shades and blinds.

Choosing a great window treatment idea can be a daunting task if you’re not sure where to start.

Measure each window separately and record the measurements on paper. Be sure to check all measurements twice before you purchase a new window treatment. Measuring and installation is available in the Brooklyn, NY area. Measure from the point you’ll hang the shade to the point where you want it to drop. Add an extra two inches to the top portion of the window frame to allow for mounting brackets.

There are many types of window treatments to choose from. Aside from the standard curtains and drapes here are: wood blinds, pleated shades, cellular shades, plantation shutters, aluminum mini blinds, and vertical blinds are only a few of the many options available.

Roman Shades For Your Home

Roman shades are a beautiful way to dress up your windows. The design of roman shades is very simplistic and elegant. The design of a roman shade is a rectangle of fabric that raises and lowers in folds. These folds are lowered and raised via system of cords, rings, and battens. Roman shades are a flat panel when lowered, but when raised, it folds into the top of the window frame. These folds are hidden by the window framework for a simple and clean look.  For maximum decorating function, you can choose to line your roman shades. This lining can serve many different purposes, including as insulation, light control and for privacy. These lined roman shades can help to give your room better temperature control during those windy, cold months, and help to cut your electric bill during the extreme weather months.

Window Décor Tip of the Month:

Blue is for boys… but it may not be for young men! Pink is wonderful, but at some point, girls grow out of that, too. When you make a décor change with window fashions, you aren’t limited by any one color, style or texture, and you don’t even have to change anything else in the room to make a major style shift. If Junior’s room is still blue, and his window treatments have seen better days, why not look to what’s happening in bold geometric prints? How about crisp cellular or louvered shades or blinds in a contrasting color or texture to bring “POP” to his environment? Thinking pink, there are loads of hot, contemporary styles and colors (like bright yellow, orange and even aqua or brown) that can update a girl’s pink room, and bring her private hangout into today by making it “her own” current style, where she’ll feel great and can “be herself”!

Rooms They’ll Love Living In!

Creating a place where your kids really want to study may seem an improbable task, but if they aren’t comfortable where they do their schoolwork, it will show. At the very least, it should be a place where they feel at ease, one that has their own tastes and interests incorporated. It’s important they get enough light, both natural from the windows and from other light sources. As they grow and mature, their personal space becomes a much more important part of the place they call home and can be a spot where they feel the safety and comfort you always try to create for your whole family. Let’s freshen your home with the kids’ rooms in mind. I have a terrific array of ideas and products in every price range to make this happen and will be happy to work within your budget to help you make your family’s rooms new again with window fashions. Call me today and we’ll get started!
