Automated Window Coverings are the Wave of the Future

More and more homeowners are choosing motorized or automated window treatments for their homes. With home designers favoring vaulted, high ceilings, homeowners are finding they need treatment options for windows that are hard to reach. Motorization allows curtains and drapes to be opened and closed without needing to get on a ladder!

Motorization lets you open and close blinds, curtains, and nearly any other window treatment with remote control. Whether you’ve got a wall of windows or you’re a media buff putting together the perfect home theater, motorization can be a great finishing touch. Whether it’s added to a bright, sheer curtain or heavy blackout shades, many of the products we carry can be motorized.

Enhance Your Windows Around Home or in the Office

Many of our clients are also using motorized window treatments in commercial settings. These window treatments provide discreet draperies for a boardroom or training environment. No matter your need, our staff is trained and factory certified to install the simplest or the most complicated systems.

When planning on automated window treatments, please consider the following:

  • If the window treatment is to be automated, plan ahead for wiring when possible to reduce the electrician’s cost. Many new homes are coming pre-wired for window coverings, but the correct wiring is not always used. Contact us during construction to eliminate the need for re-wiring.
  • Decide in advance how dark the room will need to be. Absolute darkness can be achieved but may require sidetracked blackout shades or operable blackout draperies.
  • Theater shading is not inexpensive. Motorization typically adds $200 to $700 per opening. Remote controls and integrated control systems are available. We can help you create a realistic budget early in the design or construction phases.
  • These types of projects often require a team effort. We will work closely with your media vendor, electrician, interior designer and/or architect to ensure that the completed project will be as perfect as you hope. We can work with any home automated systems including Creston, Lutron, Smart Home, Lightolier and LiteTouch. Our lines of automated window treatments come from designers such as Lutron, Somfy, BTX, Mecho Shade, Makita or Hunter Douglas.

With just the touch of a button, you can control the look and lighting of any room. For the best in automated window treatments.
